ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY USED DURING ASEESSMENT AND/OR TREATMENT

At Dynamic Movement Physiotherapy in Hereford, we utilize advanced technology during the assessments and treatments as required. The application of these modalities can be tailored to individual needs, taking into account any contraindications or risks that may restrict their use.

Assessment

  • Electromyography (EMG): Captures data on muscle activation and contraction using electrodes placed on the skin. These then transmit information to the computer for easy analysis.

  • Dynamometers: The ACtivForce Evaluates individual muscle strength using a connection to an app.

  • Stabilizer Pressure Biofeedback Cuff – Measures the strength of certain  muscles.

  •

  • PALM Palpation Meter – Assesses pelvic position and leg length.

Both these tools aid in the guidance of rehabilitation and also helps to monitor the progress of treatment.

Treatment

  • Electrical muscular stimulation (EMS): As EMG, EMS uses electrodes placed on the skin. However, this time they have a different function. Rather than transmitting data for measuring muscle activity, they provide stimulation to areas of weakness. When working, the advanced technology will be measuring what part of the muscle requires assistance and is able to assist the muscle during the contraction. This can then help improve the strength of the specific muscles.

  • Therapeutic Ultrasound (US): This method helps to alleviate pain and swelling and promotes faster recovery of any damage to soft tissues (muscles/ligaments).

  • Neuro Muscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES): Either used individually or along side therapeutic ultrasound to help reduce pain.

  • Shockwave therapy: This treatment also supports recovery and can be scheduled independently, provided there are no contraindications.

Pt performing physiotherapy in Hereford

Depending on the needs. the waiting time for NHS physiotherapy, Hereford can be a long time.

By that time you see a physiotherapist your symptoms may have become worse and it may even have progressed to a stage that requires more drastic action.

Even when you receive your appointment you may only have a few before being discharged. The appointments that you do have will often just include general exercise programs (without suitable progression) with minimal, if any hands-on manual therapy. After working as an NHS physiotherapist for several years I understand that there is a lot of pressure to discharge patients quickly in order to reduce the waiting lists. Unfortunately because of this the number of appointment times are rarely long enough for any suitable manual treatment to be provided and there are rarely enough appointments to see rehabilitation through.

At Dynamic Movement Physiotherapy, Hereford, you will rapidly receive a thorough assessment and treatment program, involving both manual therapy and progressive exercise programs (More information on the types of exercise programs can be found here) Physiotherapy, as well as sports therapy and sports massage are available to satisfy your needs.
